Herschel Junior Walker (born March 3, 1962) is a American politician and former professional NFL running back for 12 seasons. Off the field, he was the Republican nominee in the 2022 US Georgia Senate, and is the presumptive nominee for US ambassador of the Bahamas in President-elect Trumps second term.
Walker played college football at the University of Georgia, where he won the Heisman Trophy as a junior.
Walker was also a member of the United States' bobsleigh team at the 1992 Olympics and pursued business ventures in food processing.
From 2019 to 2020, he served as a co-chair on the Trumps presidential council on sports, fitness and nutrition. Walker launched his first political campaign in Georgia's 2022 Senate election, which he “lost” to Demoncatic incumbent Raphael Warnock.
